Rashida Jones is honoring her father, Quincy Jones, who passed away.
When the 48-year-old actress accepted the iconic music producer’s honorary Lifetime Achievement Oscar at the 15th Governor Awards on Sunday, November 17, alongside her family, she revealed that her father had prepared a statement and “intended” to attend the ceremony prior to his passing on November 3.

As she started to share it “in his own words” with the audience, Rashida then disclosed that her father “had been working on his speech” prior to his passing.
“It was a difficult decision for our family to be here tonight,” Rashida Jones continued, but they wanted “to celebrate his beautiful life and career.”
On the walk home, she then asked the audience to hear her father’s music in remembrance of him.
Attending the Governor Awards is the Jones family’s first public appearance since Quincy passed away at the age of 91 on November 3 at his Los Angeles residence.
According to a death certificate that was able to get, the renowned music producer passed away from pancreatic cancer.
According to the Associated Press, a week after Quincy’s passing, his seven children, close relatives, and friends attended a private burial in Los Angeles. According to the site, a second, bigger event is being organized for the general public to attend.
